Abstract

The advancements in learning analytics, sensing, smart, mobile, and wearable technologies are altering the learning environment. These technologies can be utilized to design a smart learning environment with a tailored adaptive system that supports a variety of learning styles. A smart learning environment is a technology-enabled learning environment that adapts and delivers appropriate help in the right locations and at the right time based on individual learners' learning behaviors and needs. This can be discovered by examining their learning behaviors, performances, and the real-world circumstances in which they find themselves. To serve varying learning demands, a number of smart learning environment models have been developed based on distinct foundations and research views. However, a well-defined model that includes pedagogy support and learning visualization modules to assist the learning process for inclusive learning experiences based on the modules of the smart learning environment is lacking. This chapter combined pedagogical support and learning visualization modules into the six smart learning environment modules to develop a novel model known as a pedagogical AI-enabled smart learning environment. The integrated model can provide an opportunity for skill and knowledge development in order to live and function in society, contribute to the digital workforce and drive the design of a learning environment for effective learning experiences.
